About the event
Margate is fast becoming the centre of future art, with the Tracey Emin Artist Residency nurturing talent like Vanessa Raw and Lola Stong-Brett, both making waves internationally. Current alumni are also ones to watch, developing their practice through intensive one-to-ones with Emin herself.
The town's cultural pull extends into the worlds of music and film, with Madonna recently dropping in to see Tracey Emin and Pedro Pascal celebrating his birthday here.
Day one
We’ll visit the Tracey Emin Foundation, where the current Dame Tracey Emin Fellow Jack Hirons will guide us through his exhibition The Journey—a focused exploration of monochrome painting, pigment, tone and surface.
Alongside is Ramsholt by Johnnie Shand Kydd, the British photographer who photographed Tracey Emin, Kate Moss and Sam Taylor-Johnson in the 1990s with a candid instinct that put him in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and the National Portrait Gallery. Working with analogue film, he leans into slowness,…
